My Review (I am not a reviewer - Its just one personal view)
(Pro Version) This is a brilliant spyware defender. You can set what you will block from individual sites, ie block everything from doubleclick, and this also catches them planted from their client's sites. Now how good is that? You can set cookies as trusted (mostly all small ones) and clear all others with a single mouse click. One's that you want to reject you just set a filter, and they're never seen again. Some company's shop sites have referrers activated on entry to their sites ie. Iceland UK. So you have to decide if you want your data sent to an unknown site (named in the log file) and deal with them on that basis. I don't. Some sites, like your banker, you will want to allow Java, cookies etc. But my banker loads doubleclick, and AdSubtract still grabs it.. This is seriously good software. The Freeware version does not have the superb configurability, but is reasonably effective if you alter the switches before visiting known bad sites, like search engines.. I have noted that some ad servers are embedding cookies in Java, The only reason for this can be to defeat the users wishes. When I find onr of these on my log, I can guarantee I will not be doing any business with them, ever in the future, and with this software you will be able to know. However you cannot save the log-file, which is a serious omission It can trigger sounds when blocking baddies. I have gunshot sound FX set for cookies, Java, etc. Some sites are like a war zone. All offenders are logged. Sometimes sites just don't work without allowing some nasties. But now you know what you're getting, and just who is giving them to you. The help is a non standard HTML type, and not much help, but the program is just a control panel which is fairly self explanitory and intuitive, and only the filters are badly put over, but by using them, they become clear. |
