My Review (I am not a reviewer - Its just one personal view)

This software is on several Trojan Lists, and a system scan shows that the installer gives you a trojan called Web3000, a 'gator' folder, fsg.exe, (which calls out on the net immediately after the reboot and before any chance to refuse or remove it.) This all applies to registered and 'paid for' software. I don't know what the freeware trial does. The software agreement is massive, but quite early on, it says that if you do not remove Gator immediately, then you have (by default) agreed for it to gather and send back undefined data about you. It then says further on, that you agree not to remove it? So I say 'remove it' and I can't believe they will chase you. I assumed therefore, that the program should work fully, without it.

Well, It doesn't and Gator is far from the only 'Trojan Horse' program here, however the core program can be made to host a scheduled download.

This does not appear to apply to the rest of the spyware, and having disconnected my phone-line, and used Ad-Aware to clean out the spyware, and the 8 suspect registry keys before the PC could log-in. The intent here was to get GetRight clean as far as possible. Unfortunately the software no longer intercepts browser downloads and the entries on the browser menu, wont work either.

So if you are like me, and don't want unknown people knowing stuff about you, your business, whatever, this is not for you. If you are not bothered, it is good and valuable software. But always consider, a hacker may use this spyware as a hook in to your PC. I could throw it much further than I would trust it! I am surprised that the payment doesn't allow you a clean version, and you still get the traitor-ware, whilst paying for the privilege.

OK, so what else does GetRight do.. Well if like me, you download huge files at times, and sometimes servers stop, ISPs disconnect you, connections drop, you want to download at night, whilst in bed, automatically, or you want to disconnect halfway through and resume tomorrow; anything of this ilk, then this download manager is what you need.

It can make multiple connections, which maintains fast downloading when a connection hits a bottleneck. It can schedule unnattended downloads, while you are away, and shut the PC down when finished. It can find the same files on different servers, when the original is unreliable or overloaded. If you download movies, MP3's etc. You need this software.

Alternatively you could use 'Konan'. Its cheaper, does some stuff better, it is not problem free but I beleive it is secure.
